Feeling the feels from the Petrolicious video posted on Truck Yeah earlier today I felt like asking the great minds of Oppo what the best family heirloom vehicles are? I think old Ford F-150 or Bronco would be perfect, but I know it’s for every gear head.

So Oppo, tell me what vehicle you think is best to inspire new gearheads and pass down as a family heirloom? I will post the most popular choices tomorrow. (1 post per entry) (yes, I know I posted twice)

My votes: 1970's F150.

Kinja'd!!!

1976 F-150

Kinja'd!!!

1966 Ford Bronco 4x4 (just not with those wheels...)

Probably an old Land Cruiser. Because it can, and will, last for several generations. When the world ends, the last car on earth will probably be an LC.

I’d take a 99 Turbo if it were possible/military/diplomatic import. I wouldn’t mind inheriting a 914 or if I were younger a last gen MR2. Maybe one of the Type 2 truck things with the sidegate on the bed.

I was going to inherit my grandfathers ‘04 Park Avenue Ultra, but it was wrecked before I could get to it.

The ‘67 Mustang fastback sitting at my in-laws, that has been hidden in a garage for 26+ years. Caught in family politics of “who owns it”, I just want to see it on the road again.

Don’t worry, I convinced mom-in-law to let me be the first to check it out since it has been sitting for so long. I'll do it this summer, :).

An older, unmolested Japanese import. My dad gave me his 1991 Prelude Si. He’s still around, he just didn’t want it anymore and didn’t want to deal with the hassle of selling it.

A 560SEC on AMG monoblocks will do nicely. Reliable, comfortable, good-looking, and will most likely last longer than the world itself.

This would have been it. YES I know, I already commented about this before but this still makes me kinda sad. My grandfather bought a BMW 316i Compact in Montrealblau metallic, bare bones model in 1998 together with me when I was just about 2 years old. He wanted it to be his very last car and my first one when I turn 18. He passed away when I was 15. And instead of keeping and storing the BMW they sold it for way for a bit less than it was worth. I hated them for it and I’m still kinda mad at them because of it.

Anything that has a strong enough aftermarket to support continuous ownership.

Otherwise it will end up being permanently parked by a relative who doesn’t want to do the song and dance of rare parts hunting.

The two main family heirloom cars are my grandparents 55 Chevy Bel Air and my 33 ford pickup. My 68 Camaro will become one as well.

Will have to. If I had a garage, I would be willing to negotiate it to a new home. Though I know nothing about fixing up cars, lol.

The end of an era. Nearly 20 years old and it still has more features than most cars today. The final generation of cars that were built to last.

Yes, this is a great suggestion. This will always be cool and stylish. I think it’s the last of a bread of cars that had timeless designs, instead of the “tryhard” angles, curves and surfacing that cars after have had.

My Grandpas 1936 Ford dump truck. He bought it because it’s identical to the ones his dad used to have in his fleet. It’s currently being looked after by a museum, thankfully being driven around regularly since it still runs and drives perfectly. I don't know if there is any plan for it other than that, but if I ever get a place undercover for parking, I'd put my name in for potential ownership.

My dad has 1974 Honda Goldwing GL1000 (1st year of production). When he retires in 5 years he is selling the house, buying a nice 5th wheel toyhauler, buying a new gold wing, and nice truck to tow with. I’m getting the old gold wing.
